Lake Worth Events: Midnight Sun Festival
It never stops with the Lake Worth events. This February, clear your calendar and be ready to enjoy a Finnish festival. On Friday February 28th, attend the Midnight Sun Festival and delve into Finnish culture.
About the Midnight Sun Festival
Bryant Park in Lake Worth will be home to this unique event. Everything kicks off on Friday at 5pm, but the event continues on into the weekend. At the festival, there will be Finnish entertainment, arts and crafts, and Finnish food. If you get thirsty, drink a fresh lemonade or a cold beer.
The event is fun for the whole family. It all started in 1983, when the mayor of Lake Worth decided to celebrate their own Finnish heritage. But the mayor wasn’t the only one with Finnish roots. In fact, the greater Lake Worth area has more people with Finnish ancestry than any other place in the United States. The city even has a sister city in Finland, known as Lappeenrant.
Between 1983 and 1998, this festival was known as Finlandia Days. However, the name changed and the festival grew. Today, the popular event draws quite the crowd. People who attend can enjoy a car show, a tasting event, and live musical entertainment. Whether or not you have Finnish heritage, you’ll appreciate the sights and sounds.
